A few more of the wonderful folks we met in NYC…

Mike Luciano (Calvary Baptist Church) and his team welcomed us warmly on our arrival. Mike has gone the extra mile in providing a venue for DTS courses here in New York city beginning in January! He has been most helpful in suggesting contacts for future arts ventures as well.

Clay and Anne Porr (Renaissance Church in Summit, NJ) – what a great team! We had dinner with them and with our friends Jonathan and Carly Graham (Mastermedia, NY), then took a tour of their church. It’s innovative without surrendering allegiance to the Lord and His Word.

Gregg and Lynn Burton (producer, co-founder of AMC and IFC among others). Gregg invited us to his and Lynn’s home up in the Catskills to participate in a film workshop where we reviewed Noah, Exodus: gods and kings, and Life of Pi. We shared our vision for offering DTS courses in NYC and Gregg said he would love to participate! We’re trying to work out all the many details for offering for next year.

Louis Mitchell (Creative Director, Character Design, SesameWorkshop). Wow, what a great brother in the Lord. He made us feel right at home in the Manhattan offices of Sesame Street. Surrounded by renderings of Grover, Elmo, and some Bird with yellow feathers, we discovered a kindred spirit. Louis wants to reveal Jesus Christ first and formost through his character as a Christian, and then also as a professional artist with a penchant for creating wonder-filled characters. We are eager to work with him and he with us in the course offerings in NYC.

OK, you get the idea. The Lord has graciously opened the door for us to partner with some amazing people in New York City, as well as in New Jersey. Please pray that we would discern His will, and that we would rely on His strength and not our own to fulfill his calling. It’s a great time to be at DTS, and to be involved in reaching the world for the Lord Jesus Christ through the arts. Thanks to our DTS administration for allowing us to participate in the seminary mission “to glorify God by equipping godly servant-leaders for the proclamation of His Word and the building up of the body of Christ worldwide.”
